Creating meaning using color

Color and Meaning? 
Are certain colors associated with certain words?
We are going to begin to understand how powerful Art can be!  We are going to create meaning in our art using color! 

Play allows us to create!

-Create a wash using watercolor on 2 sheets of paper. 1 warm, 1 cool
-Sign in lower right hand corner with name and year in pencil
-Tape Crayons to paper (Group in warm and cool colors)
-Melt
-Begin thinking about conveying meaning
-Pick a word
-Illustrate

Controlling and Creating Color

We will be creating a color wheel this week, so you will be able to manipulate color effectively for your next assignment. 

Primary- R,Y,B
Secondary- G,O,V
Tetriary-RO, YO, RV, BV, YG, BG

Prmary Color:  Colrs at their basic essence;  those colors that cannot be created by mixing others
Secondary Color;  Those colors achieved by a mixture of two primaries
Tertriary;  Those colors achieved by a mixture of primary and secondary hues.

Complimentary Colors: Those colors located opposite each other on the color wheel
Analagous Colors:  Those colors located close together on the color wheel

Monochromatic:  One color with the addition of black or white

Conceptual Mixed Media Piece 4/22 2011

The last day to work on your Conceptual Mixed Media Piece is 4/22 Friday.
We will be starting on a new project on Monday! You will not have anymore studio time to work on the tape, mask, head, project!

Make sure you photograph all of your references.
Fill out the sheet that was handed out in class.
Photograph your work in the cube with appropriate lighting.
Update your blog!
